Galway Rural Development, through the programmes we manage, work along with individuals, community groups and other agencies to improve the quality of life for all in our area. We especially work with those most in need of help and look to create real chances for people to make positive changes for themselves and their communities across rural Galway.
ParentChild + has been taken under the management of Galway Rural Development since June 2022 after being managed by Early Learning Initiative at National College of Ireland for several years. The programme helps parents to improve their children’s social, language and thinking skills from an early age and thereby, ensure that children enter school ready to learn, with the skills they need to be successful throughout their education. All ParentChild+ home visitors are employed from their local communities, and many were originally parents on the programme. This has brought considerable value to both the delivery of home visiting and to creating transformational change in the local community.
GRD is working in partnership with the Early Learning Initiative, National College of Ireland to bring ParentChild+ to families in Co. Galway.
